The internet has revolutionized the way
shopping is perceived and conducted, particularly in
developed countries. In developed countries, consumers now use computers and
other internet-enabled devices to identify sellers, evaluate products compare prices, and shop online 24 hours a day. The traditional way of travelling
through traffic to get to a brick and mortar store is fast
becoming obsolete. And many retail stores without a great
online presence are now struggling to survive.
The story is a bit different in developing
countries like Nigeria. Even though more and more Nigerians
are engaging in online shopping, the pace and rate of online shopping in
Nigeria is slow despite the rising population of the Internet users. There are
challenges to the adoption of online shopping in Nigeria’s retail industry.
